Nursery School in Community Centre

We created a play area in a comunity centre yard with a canopy to protect from rain and sun, and storage for toys.

Area before starting the project

Finished area

Views before starting the project and on completion. The tarmac was left in place to provide a firm surface for the playground. The area was bordered by a wall and a prickly hedge which shed thorns onto the playground causing problems for the children. The perimeter was fenced to prevent the spikes falling into the area. The play sections were laid with wood bark to provide a natural feel and soft sensation underfoot.
tunnel
mini climbing frame
A tunnel was made from tyres with a crawling space between each and covered in a camouflage net. A mini climbing frame was added to allow the children to develop coordination and physical awareness.

Wendy house

The polycarbonate canopy on a timber frame provides shelter from rain and sun. A sand pit is under the canopy. The wendy house area encourages imagination and creativity. A shed for storage was provided for portable play equipment.
